Fall in Richmond, Virginia, is one of my FAVORITE times of the year!

Between the gorgeous fall foliage, cooler temperatures, and endless things to do, there's no shortage of reasons to get out and explore RVA.

But if you're looking for something beyond the usual pumpkin patches and apple picking, I've got you covered!

From a Barbie-inspired museum experience to a magical garden filled with lights and an incredible art exhibition, here are three must-do events in Richmond this fallĀ that deserve a spot on your calendar!

1. Barbie: A Cultural Icon at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture

Ā October 17, 2026 – January 18, 2027

One of the most iconic dolls in history is getting her very own exhibition right here in Richmond!

The Virginia Museum of History & CultureĀ is hosting Barbie: A Cultural Icon, an incredible exhibition celebrating more than 65 years of Barbie's influence on fashion, pop culture, and society.

You'll discover more than 250 vintage Barbie dolls, original fashion designs, nostalgic advertisements, and immersive photo opportunities, including a Barbie Pink CorVette!

Location:Ā 428 N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA

Tickets:Ā General adult admission is $15.

2. Garden Glow at Maymont

Ā October 14 – November 8, 2026

Every fall, MaymontĀ transforms its park into a glowing wonderland filled with colorful lights, illuminated pathways, and magical installations.

Walk through the Japanese Gardens, explore larger-than-life light displays, glow swings, and cozy fire pits at Glow Village. You'll also find food trucks, seasonal treats, and plenty of picture-perfect spots along the way.

Tip: Parking can be tough, so get as close to The Robins Nature Center as you can and just park! Plan for around 60-90 minutes to enjoy the experience.

Location:Ā The Robins Nature Center, 2201 Shields Lake Drive, Richmond, VA

Tickets:Ā Adult tickets generally range from $20–$25 depending on the evening.

3. The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse at VMFA (Coming Soon!)

Ā November 14, 2026 – April 4, 2027

The Virginia Museum of Fine ArtsĀ is bringing an incredible exhibition to Richmond, featuring works by some of the most famous artists in history!

The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to MatisseĀ takes visitors on a journey through one of the most influential movements in art history, exploring how artists broke traditional rules and completely changed the art world.

Featuring works from the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibition highlights legendary artists like Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, and Henri Matisse.

Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply appreciate beautiful paintings, this is an exhibition you won't want to miss.

Location:Ā 200 N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA

Tickets:Ā $20 adults, $16 seniors, $10 students and ages 7–17. Free for VMFA members and children 6 and under.

One of the reasons I love living in Richmond is that there's ALWAYS something fun happening, and this fall is no exception!
