Living in NYC 10 years ago...

My first apartment ever was in Brooklyn Heights, New York (see below) & I was 18 years old. I had just graduated high school and moved to NYC to attend a Summer Program for Acting. I made some amazing friends and had so much fun going to a Yankees Game, Walking around Central Park, visiting Times Square, riding the Subway and going to Classes.⠀

😔The coming school year everything changed. I decided to go to another NYC Acting School, while my friends from the Summer attended the other one. It was hard. I had a hard time making new friends and got extremely homesick and went into a depression. I developed intense anxiety and an eating disorder (more on this later).⠀

I moved to Manhattan above a 🌭hot dog stand (hence the Eat Me sign below) with two people I never really spoke to. I became pretty good friends with one of the roommates, which was nice, but I couldn’t shake a lot of my issues.⠀

Coming back to my old apartments was very nostalgic and bittersweet for me. I can recall a ton of memories and feelings, some happy and some sad. ⠀

🔥Even through all the hard times, I am glad they happened. I received so much life experience and learning. And I survived. I proved to myself that I CAN survive. And you are surviving. In fact, you have survived so much before and you CAN do it again. ⠀

It’s ok to not be ok. The important thing is to not give up and to keep fighting.♥️
